Your voicemail greeting is set up through the browser at the Zoom Web Portal. Follow these step-by-step instructions for further details:

Setting up Your Voicemail Greeting

  1. Go to your Zoom account phone Settings. If asked to log in, use the SSO option.
  2. Under the Call Handling section, go to Greeting & Leave voicemail instruction and click on Audio Library
  3. Click Add audio. Here you have the option to use Text to Speech, Record by Computer, or Upload an Audio File.

Text to Speech (recommended to start)

  1. Set the Audio Name of the greeting that you can reference later and set the appropriate Voice settings. Please ensure the voice is professional.

    You can use this script as template for your voicemail greeting:
    "You have reached [YOUR NAME]. I'm not available at the moment, but if you leave your name and number, I will return your call as soon as possible. Thank you."
  2. Preview the audio for quality.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Make sure the new greeting is selected and click Use the Audio.

Record by Computer

  1. When you click Record by Computer, you may need to allow your browser to access your microphone:

    Click Allow to let Zoom use your microphone to record a greeting.
  2. Adjust the volume as necessary, test your microphone and click Next
  3. When ready, click Record and record your voicemail greeting.
  4. Preview the audio for quality. Re-record if necessary.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Make sure the new greeting is selected and click Use the Audio.

Upload an Audio File


  1. Click Upload
  2. Browse for the file you would like to upload and press Open
  3. Make sure the new greeting is selected and click Use the Audio.

Using music as the background without permission or license may violate Copyright Law. The music rights holder could issue a copyright claim on your call hold music, resulting in it being removed. By uploading music, you warrant that you have permission and/or a license to rebroadcast such music in a call hold.
